CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology

All hematological and oncological diseases are treated at Magdeburg University Children's Hospital. We care for children, adolescents and young adults from diagnosis through intensive therapy to oncological aftercare. The department meets the quality criteria of the Joint Federal Committee (G-BA) and participates in the therapy optimization studies of the Society for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (GPOH). This ensures that our patients are cared for according to the latest scientific findings.

Our patients are cared for multiprofessionally in a team of physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, teachers, study documentarians and educators.

In addition to malignant diseases, children with changes in blood cells, such as anemias, thrombopenias, hemoglobinopathies or spherocytoses are diagnosed and treated.

As a special expertise, the study center for the treatment of malignant endocrine tumors in childhood (GPOH-MET, director Dr. Antje Redlich) is located in our clinic.

A leukemia research unit is currently being established. The testing and implementation of new ways in the digitalized patient care in our area are a special concern for us.

The parents' house of the Magdeburger Förderkreis krebskranker Kinder e.V., where relatives can be accommodated during intensive therapy, is only a few minutes' walk away.
