Saxony-Anhalt Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association and Magdeburg University Medical Center strengthen cooperation in rehabilitation and cardiac sports
The Saxony-Anhalt Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association (BSSA) and Magdeburg University Hospital are intensifying their cooperation in rehabilitation and cardiac sports. The aim of the cooperation is to make it easier for patients to access quality-assured exercise programs and to provide long-term support for medical aftercare.
In a specialist lecture, Birgit Strackeljan, an employee of the BSSA's Northern Regional Center, representing the association, informed the doctors at the Clinic for Cardiology and Angiology at Magdeburg University Medical Center (Director: Prof. Dr. med. Rüdiger C. Braun-Dullaeus) about the content and structures of rehabilitation sports. She explained what rehabilitation sports are, how patients can find suitable programs, and the central role that doctors play, particularly in prescribing rehabilitation sports.
The professional exchange led to a concrete collaboration that is now also visible to patients: a newly installed information board in the clinic's waiting area provides information about rehabilitation sports, what they involve, and how to access them.
In addition, the BSSA presented the “Herz aktiv” project, which aims to establish cardiac sports groups throughout Saxony-Anhalt. The goal of the project is to strengthen cardiologic aftercare and enable those affected to participate in exercise programs close to home in the long term.
The cooperation between the BSSA and Magdeburg University Hospital is to be deepened in the future through further joint projects in order to anchor rehabilitation and cardiac sports even more firmly in medical care.
